-STEPHANIE RIPPS-
BIO
Stephanie Ripps Stephanie is a multi-credited, award-winning TV producer, instructor and mentor. As she worked her way up in the entertainment industry, Stephanie worked in production on both independent and commercial films, wrote coverage for studios and worked in development. Ultimately, she became a writer/producer on network television, working on shows such as Judging Amy, Wildfire and Beyond The Break. Stephanie has worked as a consultant on the making of films such as the award-winning “The Legend of Pancho Barnes” for director Amanda Pope and also made films herself, including the award-winning shorts “Games”, “Mental Hygiene” and “The Baby Room”. “Games”, about an hour in the life of a young Latino boy growing up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, won multiple awards, including the Martin Scorsese Award for Short Film and was bought by Showtime/The Sundance Channel. Stephanie’s short films have been shown at over 25 film festivals internationally, and she has written and produced over 20 hours of television, but her greatest joy is in teaching and passing on her knowledge of the entertainment industry to the next generation. Stephanie has taught film and screenwriting in small groups as well as classroom settings -- at East Harlem Performing Arts, she even taught beginning filmmaking on a basketball court! Stephanie holds a BA from Yale University and an MFA from NYU's Graduate Film School (Tisch School of the Arts). Stephanie grew up mostly in San Francisco and Oakland, CA where she worked as a teen reporter for The San Francisco Chronicle. Maybe because of those early experiences, she loves seeing stories from every angle, working with people of all cultures and backgrounds and creating positive connections through mutual understanding.
